The tagline of the Auburn Bay community website reads “Come home to cottage country,” and if you’ve read our article on McKenzie Lake then you should know that this is a highly sought after lifestyle that is pursued by many Calgarians. Auburn Bay presents a new community where families can enjoy easy access to the waterfront while still being within reach of the city centre. This is just one reason why this neighborhood experienced a 24.7% growth in population from 2011 to 2012! In one year, 1500 people moved to Auburn Bay.

 

Now, I’ve picked the top 5 reasons why this neighbourhood is a hot commodity in the Calgary housing market: 

 

1) It's a new neighbourhood with lots of growth that's yet to come.

Auburn Bay is a new addition to SE Calgary. The neighbourhood is only a couple years old with many of the homes still being under construction. Builders have broken ground on very few of the lots available for purchase so current residents can expect to see the area undergo a complete transformation in the years to come. 

 

The homes directly west of Auburn Bay and bordering on this big body of water are among the few that are being occupied by residents. But there’s a lot more to come. Families are privy to the recently built South Health Campus Hospital, a number of schools that have been recently announced, and they’ll have access to a major shopping area dubbed the “Seton Urban District.”

 

 

 

2) Water, Parks, and Bench - all in SE Calgary.

Residents of SE Calgary are familiar with the great green space that the communities are nestled in amongst. Auburn Bay is no different. There are several parks that families frequent in this neighbourood. And don’t despair if your house isn’t directly on the water—there’s a public access beach for families to have fun on when the weather permits. Yet another reason you won’t regret purchasing a home here!

 

 

3) Awesome Auburn Bay Amenities!

Although Auburn Bay is a relatively new neighborhood, the residents can still count on a number of local amenities that will make living life in this neighbourhood a breeze. Of course there’s the Seton Urban District, which can cater to the families’ retail needs, but that’s just one area that caters to residents.

 

Now hopefully you don’t need a hospital often, however you can rest easy because the South Health Campus is right around the corner from the community. Have a dog? Your furry friends can take comfort in knowing about the Cranston Veterinary Hospital in neighbouring Cranston.

 

There’s also a number of schools to choose from so your kids won’t have to venture far from home to get their study on! 

 

4) Enjoy the privacy of the suburbs and still have easy access to the city centre.

While this neighbourhood undoubtedly qualifies as a suburb, residents still have very easy access to the city centre whether it is for work or for pleasure. There’s also a new C-Train LRT Park’n’Ride for your convenience. The Deerfoot Trail-Highway 2 is also on the periphery of the community and makes driving in to the city a snap. 

 

5) It's a very active community where there's always something going on.

The community website, Auburn Bay Connect, organizes a number of seasonal events for community members and their family members to take part in. They offer up the Auburn House event space for rentals, picnic shelters, and a gymnasium for events where participants need a bit of room to jump around. The facilities are in full swing all year around—you can play some tennis and the summer, or shinny in the winter, but either way, there’s always something going on!
